ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Cecilia Romero is a Southern California-based professional artist and muralist who has been bringing her colorful creations to city streets, residential properties, galleries, and businesses for over a decade. With a strong belief in the healing power of art—both on an individual level and within the community—Cecilia draws inspiration from her inner child, her Native American heritage, as well as her love of travel, animals, people, and music. Her work is celebrated throughout Los Angeles, California, and Mexico for its vibrant colors and uplifting themes.
Cecilia’s passion for the arts began at an early age, nurtured by her parents’ encouragement and her upbringing in the culturally rich city of Los Angeles, filled with art galleries and museums. As she grew, so did her artistic expression and skill. Drawn to portraiture during her teenage years, she fell in love with drawing dramatic depictions of humans and animals. At the age of 20, she painted her first mural, an experience that proved to be a turning point in her artistic development. This moment not only nurtured her creative vision but also catalyzed her career as a muralist, inspiring her signature use of vibrant colors.
Cecilia is a self-taught artist and muralist whose vibrant and impactful work has caught the attention of major brands, communities, and art enthusiasts alike. Her impressive portfolio includes large-scale murals created for globally recognized companies such as Visa, Twitch, Estrella Jalisco, Walmart, and Knotel. In 2020, her mural honoring a local South LA hero for Estrella Jalisco was prominently featured on Fox 11 News’ Good Day LA, further cementing her reputation as a storyteller through art. Her work also graced the cover of Downtown LA News Magazine, showcasing her ability to capture the spirit of her city.
Cecilia’s artistry extends beyond commercial work to meaningful community engagement. She has been a three-time participant in the Akumal Arts Festival in the Mexican Caribbean, where she connected deeply with the local community and painted her first school mural in 2019. In 2021, she brought her vision to life once again with her vibrant mural, World of Wonder, at Hillcrest Drive Elementary in Los Angeles, enriching the educational environment with color and creativity.
As the first featured artist in the Joshua Tree National Park Association’s groundbreaking program Artistas Afuera, Cecilia embraced her role as a trailblazer, celebrating Latinx artists in the region. Through this initiative, she shared her journey from a young artist discovering her passion to becoming a professional muralist, inspiring audiences with her authenticity. She also led a Q&A session and an interactive painting workshop, encouraging participants to explore the power of color and reconnect with their inner child.
With a focus on uplifting communities through public art, Cecilia encourages younger generations to express their inner creativity while spreading hope and inspiration through her vibrant and colorful creations. Whether working with private clientele, galleries, businesses, or global brands, Cecilia’s expansive portfolio reflects her commitment to art that uplifts, inspires, and energizes. Wherever she paints, she aims to leave behind a lasting impression of vibrancy and healing.
